I'm breaking my "resting time from social networks" to support a very important cause, the benefit event to help Liz Gilbert, a lovely and amazing human being and artist, dealing with a terrible and delicate situation, and even under these circumstances giving life to a new and daring cultural project: Audiosapien Records.

Please read and share.

Thanks a lot.

Liz Gilbert: an independent artist we must protect

If I’ve got to think in the best example of an independent artist I must say just one name: Liz Gilbert.

Since some time ago she’s facing very complicated issues, her health isn’t too well, and some financial troubles make the situation much worse, but even under those burdens she’s always thinking in ways to write new music, to record it, and to help other artists.

Liz Gilbert was born in Canada, but lives since ages ago in the United States, she's a talented singer and multi-instrumentalist, a very gifted composer, and if you don’t know her I’m inviting you to to do it, it will be the best investment for good music lovers.

From jazz to blues, rock, folk, contemporary music, there's no a single genre or style unknown for her.

I really wish to see Liz Gilbert coming back soon in top form, if The Positive Ghetto is alive is thanks to brilliant artists and beautiful human beings as her.

Liz Gilbert: una gran artista necesita nuestra ayuda / a great artist needs our help

I can't think in a world without music, specially these days, when almost the whole world is under different levels of chaos, music can help, can heal many wounds, and, of course, there's no music without musicians, and they're people just like you and me, except that some have an special gift, a light, a power, sharing their dreams to help us to beat our nightmares, and now, one of them is facing a truly complicated situation, I'm talking about the one and only Liz Gilbert.

Her condition right now is pretty tragic in health and financial terms, so you can visit Liz old website where you'll find several ways to help her, and you're not only helping a wonderful and amazing musician, she's also a human being with a huge love and compassion for everyone around her, and beyond.

Remember, giving a hand to Liz Gilbert you're making a world a better place, more than ever good music is like fresh water in the desert, and artists from this kind must be protected by all means.

euskir music y el sentido de comunidad / euskir music and the sense of community

There's no chance for euskir music to survive without me, yes, Federico Antin, I'm the first brick in this wonderful and bruised project, and as many of you may know, I'd been having not so good times, then, something basic to build any kind of society, the sense of community, came to the rescue.

Between all those marvellous persons involved, the warm heart from my beloved friend Liz Gilbert (the creative mastermind behind anodyne2art & chordata, and many other fantastic creations in her amazing career), talented multi - artist, creating an emergency fund for euskir music, and beyond her immense work, the help from Ea, Elli, Dorothee, Sheila, Arlean, Cathy, Lisa, Sunna, Gwen, William, Ali, Sean, Juan Carlos, Wilfred, Scott, Sigurdór, and not only money, very important these days to keep non profit projects as this alive, words, words of support, encouraging words, from the United States (from coast to coast), Switzerland, Germany and Turkey (at the same time!), Iceland, suddenly a big online community became an offline community, a real social network, to support Federico Antin, but also euskir music, and to the deep meaning behind that name, music, art, independence, culture.
I'm sure I'm forgetting someone, the names above are the link with all of you out there, thanks, this is your community too...

The emergency it's over now, and we're looking a steady income, of course my own wallet it's always ready to listen the euskir music's call, at the same time the image of our good friend Mad Bear (member of the Bear Clan of the Tuscarora, Nation of Six-Nation Iroquois Confederacy. An activist, medicine man and world leader), above at right, is the link to collaborate with euskir music (you can find it at the same place in this blog), no matter the amount, if we can keep this sense of community growing and growing, each little, or big coin, will be back in the streets of the world, every day, helping to support music and musicians, because good music needs our help to survive, and euskir music, well, we can't do it alone, we're a small brick in this beautiful artistic community.

For some people art must be in a museum, the music on a concert hall, that's not a terrible thing, but if you love art as a vital and changing energy, join the Chordata experience.
And the last news from Chordata are:

Chordata... Desert STUDIO / EXPERIMENT.

Hello friends

This weekend, beginning on september 21, 2007 . Our hours right now, again, are fridays
8 pm til late (camp here if you like), and Saturdays 2pm on...
We're inviting everyone to come and make 30-60 second videos around the idea : HOW To build an artist!
The best will be submitted to Fractured Atlas's (our fiscal sponsor, the competition deadline, october 15).
Fractured Atlas is a great national organization which supports artists and arts organizations.
They have just turned their competition over to Genius Rocket (another innovative organization).
The videos MUST incorporate the Fractured Atlas logo, web address, and tagline "liberate the artist".
We're doing this as a fundraiser for Chordata, so let your imagination run wild, but try to plan your video to require minimal editing (remember: 60 seconds MAX). You can use the space, materials here, we have a good mini dv cam , editing and capture capabilities etc.... You can bring your own gear if you have it too. Let's show what the desert has to offer ! We'll be doing this next weekend too.

Liz Gilbert is also launching the Desert Audio Sapiens Band open call to musicians. She's envisioning a big ensemble, as an open experiment (no borders/no limits), with a specific project in mind. We still need help setting up the Logic Studio, and a ton of other things!

On saturday 29, september 2007, at 2 pm, at the Chordata Studio, DR. Vanessa Sheldon (the talented young harpist / professor at the College of the Desert - COD -) will be presenting new material with her new group (which includes another harpist and 2 singer / songwriter guitarists). Come join us for this and if you want to perform here, just call Liz at 349 9401 or 969 3354.
A recent article on Vanessa.

Chordata: el buen arte está vivito y coleando / Chordata: the good art it's alive and kicking

Today, from 5 pm onwards, another chance to enjoy the Chordata's experience.
Chordata, a new project in the desert, arts non profit, a 5,000 square foot building in the Santa Rosa mountains (15 miles up Highway 74 from Palm Desert in Pinyon Pines), to open a new space and concept for art.
And today two differents proposals, for musicians and for artists:

MUSICIANS: This is a great, open performance / rehearsal / project space, and we need help setting up the recording studio, adding colors to our sound experiment, and lots more. There's a project just starting, and the future holds tons of possibilities, from live podcasts of performances, events, collaborations, to cultural exchanges without borders… We'd love to see and hear you… Come make some noise. Bring your gear, instruments, and feel free.

ARTISTS: of all types and sizes. The space awaits …We're all set up to play around with paint, drawing, and other mediums. We're also envisioning one area of the building as a writer / poet space…a writing room / library / retreat.

This is just the beginning, because since september 14, 2007, the space will be open on friday nights from 8 pm until late, and saturdays from 2 pm on. Bring food, drink and a comfortable seat (we're a bit short on those at the moment!).
The studio is, in itself, a complete creative work in progress… Come join us. Make your mark !
The Chordata web site is being worked on, but there is some info up on anodyne 2. When the Chordata site is up, it will be an extension of the studio and will be a good place for you to post links which will connect up with a big international community of creatives from every discipline, as well as other alternate art venues and groups.

Well my friends, join Liz Gilbert (artist, musician, big creative mind) and Richard Meyers (artist, painter, big creative mind), their effort to spread another way to understand art, a human, more closer way, it's calling all of us for a little help.
