Nuevamente, Código Jazz está trayendo buena música para nuestros oídos. En esta ocasión es el show de Delfina Oliver, en Notorious.
El nuevo disco de la cantante, "Monk, Mingus & Miles...No standards", será la música principal para este evento, pero por supuesto, algún material de su trabajo previo, y exitoso: "Mirada".
Ella no enfrentará al público sola, una banda de primera categoría estará en el escenario: Enrique Norris, corneta y dirección musical; Francisco Lo Vuolo, piano; y Miguel Tarzia en guitarra.
Excelente música que no pueden perderse, entonces, no olviden hacer reservaciones

Again, Código Jazz is bringing good music to our ears. This time is the Delfina Oliver show, at Notorious.
The singer new record, "Monk, Mingus & Miles...No standards", will be the main music for this event, but of course, some material from her previous work, and successful: "Mirada".
She's not going to face the public alone, a first class band will be in the stage: Enrique Norris, cornet and musical direction; Francisco Lo Vuolo, piano; y Miguel Tarzia in guitar.

American Friends Service Comittee: News about Iraq

This is from the last American Friends Service Comittee newsletter:


We have been deeply saddened by the abduction of four members of the Christian Peacemaker Team in Iraq. Tom Fox (U.S), Norman Kember (UK), James Loney and Harmeet Sooden (Canada), lived outside the fortified Green Zone in Baghdad in active witness against the U.S.-led invasion and occupation of Iraq. Tom Fox is a Quaker and a member of Langley Hill Meeting in Virginia.

The Christian Peacemaker Teams, a non-governmental organization, is one of the few remaining international humanitarian organizations working in Iraq. Their presence maintains a critical, nonviolent public witness to the violence and uncertainty which persists in the country. Team members knowingly work at great risk to their own health and security.

The kidnappings have caused enormous suffering and pain to the captives, their families, associates, and friends. We have been in close touch with CPT, Tom Fox’s family and other partner organizations. On Friday, we issued a joint statement with the Friends Committee on National Legislation appealing to those responsible for the kidnappings to release all four peacemakers unharmed. You can find the latest information on the evolving situation on the Christian Peacemaker Teams website.

In recent days, a German archeologist and a French engineer working on a water treatment center have also been kidnapped. These abductions along with the daily attacks and bombings, illustrate the insecurity that Iraqis live in every day.

While the kidnappings are deeply disturbing, I also want to share two hopeful updates about the progress of our Wage Peace Campaign.

Together, our recent email campaign asking Congress to join Rep. John Murtha in calling for a troop withdrawal generated almost 23,000 emails to Representatives and Senators in all 50 states. In the meantime, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has joined the call for a quick and safe withdrawal from Iraq. Pelosi’s office received dozens of emails from us in the past three weeks.

Congress is clearly heading toward withdrawing some troops from Iraq. It’s not enough. We need to keep up the pressure to end the war, remove all troops and bases from Iraq, and to hold the U.S. to its legal and moral obligations to reconstruct Iraq.

I also wanted to report back on the results of last month’s Wage Peace Campaign survey. We’ve received more than 1,500 responses about next steps for the campaign. Thank you so much for your ideas. We’re working quickly to update our web site to have resources available to help your local activism. Look for more material in coming emails.

Osvaldo Berlingieri = tango

El Fondo Nacional de las Artes entregó premios a la trayectoria artística, en un acto en el Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo.
El director de cine, Fernando "Pino" Solanas, se hizo acreedor al Gran Premio Fondo Nacional de las Artes. Hubo otros premiados, pero en este caso me interesa destacar a uno: Osvaldo Berlingieri.
Director de orquesta, claro que puede hacerlo, pero como pianista, un verdadero talento.
Por supuesto es difícil conseguir sus discos, especialmente las fantásticas grabaciones del Osvaldo Berlingieri Trío, que siempre sumaba a alguien, terminando en cuarteto, o algo más.
Sus versiones de temas "clásicos", como "Nunca tuvo novio", o más modernos, como "Adiós Nonino", antológicas.
Compañero en una que otra aventura musical de Astor Piazzolla, es aún hoy, y con los premios a cuestas, un músico subestimado.
Una lástima, ellos se lo pierden...


The National Endowment for the Arts gave prizes to the artistic
trajectory, in an act in the National Museum of Decorative Art. The
film director, Fernando "Pino" Solanas, get the
Great Prize National Endowment for the Arts. Others were awarded,
but in this case my interests is to emphasize just in one: Osvaldo
Berlingieri. Conductor, for sure he can do it, but like piano player, a
true talent. Of course it is difficult to obtain his records, specially
the fantastic recordings of the Osvaldo Berlingieri Trio, always
plus one, finishing in quartet, or something more. His
versions of "classics", as "Nunca tuvo novio", or
more up to date material, like "Adiós Nonino", anthologies. Partner in one or another
musical adventure with Astor Piazzolla, he's still today, and with
the prizes on the shelves, an underrated musician. A pity, they
lose him...

Iraq: violencia sin fin / Iraq: violence without end

En esta oportunidad no voy a hablar sobre la invasión a Irak, o el estúpido asesinato de inocentes, día tras día, por ejércitos "amistosos", como los de Inglaterra y los Estados Unidos.
No puedo entender como la resistencia está tomando gente de ONGs como rehenes.
Ellos son los estúpidos ahora, pues esta es una gran forma de alimentar al enemigo, y de lastimar a los amigos.
Puedo entender la cólera de vivir en tu propia tierra, pero bajo un gobierno extraño, uno no democrático.
Pero es tiempo de buscar una salida, y eso no se consigue, utilizando a la gente realizando ayuda humanitaria como escudos.
Tiempo difíciles, pero por favor, liberen a los rehenes, ellos no son culpables, ellos son inocentes, como los iraquíes apresados después de la invasión.

This time I'm not going to talk about the invasion of Iraq, or the stupid killing of innocents, day after day, by "friendly" armies, like the ones from the England and the US.
I can't uderstand why the resistance is taking people from NGOs as hostages.
They're the stupids now, because this is a great way to feed the enemy, and to hurt the friends.
I can understand the anger of living in their own land, but under an strange government, a non democratic one.
It's time to look for an exit, and that's not using the people making humanitarian help as shields.
Hard times, but please, free the hostages, they're not guilty, they're innocents, as the iraquis imprisoned after the invasion.

Ella es escritora, artista, activista (creo que no puede volar, pero no estoy realmente seguro). Su colección de historia breves "Mad anatomy" ("Loca anatomía") fue publicada en el 2003, por Del Sol Press. Y en este momento ella debe estar pensando, o escribiendo, o pensando que escribir, en algún lugar del Desierto del Sur de California.
Pero, como no puede tomarse un minuto para respirar, ahora también hay un blog. Dios. ¡Qué chica!

She's a writer, artist, activist (I think she can't fly, but I'm not too sure). Her
collection of short stories "Mad anatomy" was published in 2003, by Del Sol Press. And right now she must be thinking, or writing, or thinking what to write.at some place in the South California Desert.
But, because she can't take a minute to breath, now there's also a blog. God. What a girl!

Diego Chamy, Macarena Cifuentes y Francisco López: Música y movimiento

Es muy curiosa la forma en que estos artistas están promocionando su trabajo, lo hacen a través de un e-mail que contiene este texto:

"Este Sábado a las 20.30hs compartimos algo que va y que estamos haciendo: Diego Chamy (percusión), Macarena Cifuentes (movimiento) y Francisco López (bajo eléctrico). Esto funciona pero no como un sistema con entradas, salidas, lenguaje y entorno. Más que eso como una máquina.

[No se debe confundir movimiento con trayectoria recorrida. Un sonido puede tener también movimiento.]

Hola Leila, como estás, Macarena. Estoy esperando las luminarias todavía. ¿No las hiciste no tenés ninguna vela para traerme hoy? Hoy nada y mañana durante el día? Para las ocho de la noche las necesito. Ah. Se pueden… ojalá. Bueno fijate, necesito yo qué sé, 10. Bueno, pero de última velas yo qué sé. Las velas son más rápidas.

... surgió una incomodidad, voy buscando.... El cuerpo.

Hablaba del movimiento. En rigor, al movimiento lo descartamos. Es un pedazo de tiempo. Una imagen del tiempo que no se arma por el recorrido de algo en el espacio, ni tampoco por la duración de un acontecimiento. Todo a la vez. Flujos danza y flujos sonido desterritorializados cuando se mezclan. ¿Cómo funciona eso, cómo funciona cuando dos flujos heterogéneos se mezclan? Se pueden mezclar si son de una intensidad compatible. Caso contrario vemos la diferencia entre un flujo y otro, plusvalía de código. En vez del ser diferente, del elemento diferencial interno a un encuentro, tenemos plusvalía de código o reterritorialización forzada de un flujo por una axiomática. Nosotros la axiomática creemos que le pertenece al público. Quizá por eso.

Noticias de Gipuzkoa: Un nuevo diario en Euskadi

Desde el 24 de noviembre hay un nuevo periódico en Gipuzcoa, Euskadi. Bajo la dirección del periodista Pablo Muñoz, "Noticias de Gipuzcoa", es el tercer diario en unirse a los proyectos anteriores: "Diario de Noticias de Navarra" y "Diario de Noticias de Alava".
Arantza Zugasti es la directora adjunta, y cincuenta profesionales que completan un equipo de primera.
Bueno, los mejores deseos, y aire fresco, como el que "Noticias de Gipuzcoa" está trayendo a los medios Vascos.

Since november 24 there's a new newspaper in Gipuzkoa, Euskadi. Under the direction of journalist Pablo Muñoz, "Noticias de Gipuzcoa", it's the third newspaper to join the previous projects: "Diario de Noticias de Navarra" y "Diario de Noticias de Alava".
